Sardars..!! Let me tell You, I fantasize watching them. The turban, face with beard and moustache, the metallic bracelet, the machismo and the “happy-go-lucky” kinda personality…!! I just love ‘em.
No I had never met them in person earlier; remote part of southern India can never expect them too. All I had imagined about them was from movies or media and of course joke books which all showed them as silly fools with brain no better than dogs..!!
Do u guys remember the movie “Border “? Featuring sunny deol, who played a patriot sardar. It was also memorable for it was released on 50 th anniversary of Indian independence. I also remember there was a tragedy in Delhi, one of the theatres caught fire and people were suffocating to death and there was commotion all over. And there was this sardar Capt Manjinder Singh Bhinder, who rescued 150 people and doing so he perished along with his son and wife..!! Such a heroic act..!! Only A SARDAR CAN…!!!
I do agree for years together they were made butt of all the nasty jokes. T.v., radio channels and SMSes with sardar jokes pocketed loads of money, and still continuing. Come on folks..Are they that silly?Aren’t we seeing IPS officers and the army personnel with turbans? IIT ians, IASian all u can see are the turban singhs.SINGH IS THE KING.!
Sardars treat you as their family. You can have all sorts of fun.. They are perfect example for maintaining relations. You mess with them and you are not sorry for it .? Boss you will be surely in trouble as you deserve it. I had couple of sardar friends who hug every time we meet. Every Sundays at gurudwara chanting prayers.. Oh man they are too much of devotional. They will be too much committed to what ever they do. Oh man I love ‘em for that…
Next time you meet sardars, appreciate their way of wearing turban though its heavy and sounds burden. Thank them, for someone in their family has served our country’s defense or has contributed towards agriculture. Observe them while they pray, their head bowing , lips chanting , ensuring their faith towards almighty …!! Probably you too fall in love with them..!!
